January 6, 2021 will be remembered in U.S. history as Trump’s attempted coup of the presidency of the United States. As Congress met to fulfill their democratic duty to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election results, violent Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capital Complex, in an unprecedented insurrection incited by Donald Trump. It is a turning point in the political history of the United States.
American democracy glorified as invincible and all-powerful was exposed as a political myth. The disintegration of American democracy is now viewed as a hollow political myth. American democracy, rooted in the crisis of capitalism, has exposed its weakness to the world. The popular phrase ‘It Can’t Happen Here’ was proven false as it did happen, leaving American fascism fully exposed.
The conspirator behind this insurrection and coup was no other than the sitting president of the United States, Donald Trump. The attack on Congress was a conspiracy directed from the highest office of the United States. The aftermath leaves the American political establishment struggling to cover up the fascist coup attempt against Congress. It was clearly orchestrated from within the political apparatus, including the Capital police and even the U. S. military.
This was viewed as an assault on U.S. democracy, intended to interfere with the democratic Congressional process of certifying the Electoral College votes for President-elect, Joe Biden. The House and the Senate had convened to confirm the electoral vote count when violent insurrectionists easily breached the U.S. Capital Complex, causing the House Chambers to be evacuated.
Hours before the breach, President Trump had addressed his supporters at a Washington D.C. rally encouraging them to “take back the country,” “not by weakness, but by strength.” Trump invited his thousands of supporters to march on Pennsylvania Avenue and to the White House in protest of the election results and the confirmation of the electoral vote for Joe Biden on January 6, 2021. His message was clear. Trump tweeted to his supporters to march on the White House, saying: “Be there, we’ll be wild.” This was a clear, resounding call by Trump to his right-wing supporters to invade the Capital with the seditious intent to overthrow the democratic political process taking place in Congress.
The President of the United States incited domestic terrorists to attack the U.S. Capitol. It was a clear attempt to disrupt Congress’s constitutional duty to confirm the 2020 presidential election results and to overthrow America’s democracy. Those who desecrated the United States Capitol did so with the encouragement and full consent of the president of the United States and his co-conspirators who aided him in this attempted coup. Donald Trump betrayed his oath of office to protect and to defend the nation's democracy from enemies foreign and domestic. He put the American people in danger. Americans are demanding a criminal investigation into the Trump administration and all who aided him.
Donald Trump has distorted, lied, and disgraced the office of the U.S. presidency for the last four years. He has already been impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of justice but was not removed as the Republican Senate opposed it. Now, his attempted insurrection of U.S. democracy and national security, the U.S. Congress moves for a second impeachment trial. Both Democrats and even some of his previous Republican supporters have called on Trump to resign. His clear refusal demands that he be removed by force. His last days in office pose serious dangers to the U.S. Republic and its democracy.
A week before, he tried to intimidate the Georgia Secretary of State into changing the vote count in his favor. He tried to influence Georgia's Secretary of State to change the vote count and even made threats if his demands were not met. A conceded effort to corrupt the election. Without results, Trump resorts to desperate measure. He incited an insurgency. Under his direction, with the aid of other administration insiders, a right-wing mob of supports stormed the U.S Congress to stop the electoral vote count. Only minutes before, Trump had spoken at a rally of his supporters, asking them to march to the White House, emphasizing the need to do so with “strength, not weakness.” It was Trump’s last resort which stemmed from his refusal to accept his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
Even as scenes of Trump supporters rampaging through Congressional chambers and offices filled the TV screens, Trump refused to call on them to stand down and leave the building. As the riot escalated and his supporters invaded the White House, Trump refused to call in reinforcement police or the National Guard to regain control of the Capital. He chose to watch the results of his insurgency on television as the rest of the world did too. He ignored all telephone calls and efforts by members of his administration, Congress and the Senate to go on national TV to condemn the insurrection and siege of the U.S. capital.
Trump made sure that his supporters did not face the same resistance other protester groups in the U.S. had faced. His supporters were let into the White House grounds and permitted to breach the White House without much resistance. Behind this effort were key GOP Senators in the Republican House. Twelve Senators are also charged with inciting violence to keep Trump in office by stating that votes in various states were fraudulent. They continued to support his dangerous stance objecting the results of a legitimate presidential election. All 12 GOP Senators incited violence by affirming that votes in various states were fraudulent, as an effort to keep Trump in office. Here are the so-called, ‘dirty dozen.’
The U.S. Capitol security breach and the failure to secure it need to be fully investigated. Billions of dollars are invested in national security and on January 6, they failed to protect the Nation’s Capital from an insurgent mob determined to interfere in the official electoral vote count and impede the transfer of power in the White House. Millions in the U.S. believed Trump’s presidency had been stolen from him; perhaps even some of the security personnel in Congress. Most Americans want Trump removed from office immediately. Many are calling for impeachment since he will not resign willingly. Members of Congress, the Senate and the Administration are calling on Vice President Pence and the cabinet to invoke the 14th Amendment of the Constitution which is the fastest way of removing him and preventing him from running for office.
The 14th Amendment, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution provides a basis for their removal for accomplices in this insurrection attempt. This Amendment prohibits all Senators or Representatives of Congress who have taken an oath, to engage in insurrection or rebellion and/or to give aid to the enemies thereof. Congress may by a vote of two thirds remove them. Trump was the author of this lethal attack against democratic process. His lies fed the rebellion, with disregard for the constitution.
Trump had managed to bring The GOP (Grand Old Party or The Republican Party) down to its knees in one short term. The Republicans gave up their party to him. The political fallout from the rioting continues as Republicans face a deep, angry rift within their party between those who condemned the violence and those in support of Trump’s instigation of it. Trump has abused his power ever since he took office four years ago. But this time he put the U.S. Congress and its democracy at risk.
Donald Trump’s violent supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, in Washington. It will forever be remembered as a historic day when certain lawmakers and a mob of protesters attempted to overturn America's presidential election and prevent Democrat Joe Biden from replacing Trump in the White House. Biden calls the people who stormed Capitol “domestic terrorists."
The unruly mob of Trump supporters, smashed windows, climbed the stairs and escalated the walls into the White House as an act of subversion. The mobsters invaded the Senate Chamber, looted members' offices, removed U.S. flags, substituting them with the Confederate Flag of the Civil Revolution. The extent of the looting is still uncertain. They were photographed sitting in the officials' chairs and removing personal items from their offices.
While Trump’s supporters were breaking and entering, Congress was certifying the results of the presidential electoral votes. While the mob was smashing windows, Democrats were celebrating the victories in Georgia that will give them control of the Senate when the loudspeakers warned them of the insurrection taking place. They were forced to leave the session and flee for safety as angry mobsters forced themselves into the chambers.
During the insurrection, Trump was unavailable to everyone. He refused to answer his phone and was unwilling to call for reinforcements of police or National Guard to remove the mob and secure the White House. Under pressure from fellow Republicans in the Senate and Congress, he was forced to address his supporters, asking them to go home but reminding them that he understood their anger as a result of the ‘stolen election.’
Pictures of the invasion of the Capitol, were broadcast internationally and shocked the world. Seditious conspiracy, use of explosives, crossing state lines with the intent to commit crimes are just some of the unlawful acts listed in a September memo by then-Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen. The violence resulted in five deaths, including a Capital police officer and the destruction of federal property. Federal prosecutors and the FBI continue to screen photos and videos to identify persons and charge those who involved in this insurrection. Some of the perpetrators have been identified and arrested.
Lawmakers later reconvened to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 presidential election. Congress confirmed Democrat Joe Biden as the presidential election winner before dawn Thursday. To the dismay of Trump and his supporters, the House and Senate reconvened on the same day to finish their work and complete their duty to the American people by certifying Joe Biden as the next President of the United States. Members of both the Congress and the Senate began calling for Trump’s removal from office to ensure national security.
One of the quickest ways to remove Trump from office would be for the Vice President to immediately invoke the 25th amendment. This would require a majority of Trump’s cabinet and the Vice President to declare Trump unfit to fulfill his duties as president. So far, this has not happened. They fear this would further divide the nation and create more unrest. If the Vice President and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress will reconvene to impeach the president, before or after he leaves office.
National Guard soldiers from Washington, DC, and several US states will remain activated throughout President-elect Joe Biden’s January 20 inauguration, according to NBC News and CBS News - There is no evidence so far that Antifa) a left-wing anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement in the United States (activists stormed the US Capitol, according to multiple fact-checkers - Information available in images of the insurrection suggests the participants have links to far-right movements, according to The New York Times. After the riots, the Federal government installed a 7-foot-tall non-scalable fence around entire US Capitol grounds along with 6,200 National Guard.
In this regards, on a televised speech, January 8, 2021, Imam Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated, “Just look at the present situation in the US to see in what state that great idol is at the present time. Such is the state of their democracy! Such is their election fiasco! This is their human rights! In accordance with American human rights, every few hours or every few days, a black American is murdered on the streets without any reason and without any crime. And the murderer is not legally pursued in any way.”
Expressing how American values are ridiculed throughout the world, even by their allies, The Supreme Leader said, “And such is the state of their crippled economy. The US economy is crippled in the true sense of the world. There are tens of millions of unemployed people who suffer from hunger and homelessness. Such is the current situation in the US.”
His Eminence added, “In the year 1388 [2009], the US wished to create instability in Iran, and now this has happened to themselves this year, in 1399 [2020]. In that year, they wished to do in Iran what has happened in Washington”
In the end, Trump cannot be trusted to facilitate a peaceful transfer of power. There are still days to go until President-elect Biden is inaugurated. Every minute Trump remains president denigrates the U.S. Constitution and endangers America and the world.
All of this transpired three days after the illegal assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani on January 3, 2020 ordered by Donald Trump. The second most powerful person of Iran, subordinate only to Supreme Leader Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, along with five Iraqi nationals and four Iranian nationals were assassinated cowardly in the U.S. terrorist strike. This came after the U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in 2018. Trump reimposed sanctions and falsely accused The Islamic Republic of Iran of a campaign to interfere with U.S. forces in the region. All carefully instrumented by Donald Trump.
In the same speech, Imam Khamenei said “Western countries and our enemies are obliged to stop this malicious move immediately against the Iranian nation. This is their duty. This is grave, unreasonable enmity to the Iranian nation. They are showing hostility toward the Iranian nation, not just toward the system of the Islamic Republic and its government. It is their duty to immediately put an end to this move.” His Eminence stated that western countries should immediately lift the sanctions against the Iranian nation. He said, “When the other side fails to honor all of its commitments, there is no reason for Iran to honor all its own commitments.”
International experts, including the United Nations special rapporteur on extrajudicial and arbitrary executions, declared the assassination a violation of both international law and U.S. domestic laws. Iran rightfully called this strike as an act of “state terrorism.” Iraq considers the attack a breach of bilateral security agreements with the U.S. and as an act of aggression against its officials and its national sovereignty. The consequences of this deplorable act by Trump’s administration are resulting in catastrophic events unfolding in the United States in the New Year. Trump’s “maximum pressure” strategic ploy against Iran has clearly failed, and now the pressure is on Trump and his administration.
Iran issued second Interpol arrest request for 48 U.S. officials including Trump. Iranian judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili announced during a press conference on Tuesday that Iran has requested the international police organization to arrest Trump and 47 other American officials identified as playing a role in the assassination of top general martyr general Qassem Soleimani last year. The Guardian Council also said Iran will legally pursue Trump after he leaves the White House. The US has flown nuclear-capable B-52 bombers over the Gulf several times in the past month and in the January 2021.
Iran has warned that the U.S. and Israel may be wanting to start a war in Trump’s last days in office. Israeli Mossad’s cowardly assassination of leading scientist in Iran’s nuclear program, Martyr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, is the latest attempt by the Zionists to intensify pressure on Iran to wage war and retaliation. Iran’s Supreme Leader and officials have promised retaliation. Hossein Dehghan, advisor to the Supreme Leader told the Associated Press, “We will descend like lightning on the killers of this oppressed martyr and we will make them regret their actions!”
US presence in the Middle East – as anywhere else – does not serve a progressive role, even as its motivations are always clouded in the rhetoric of humanitarianism and democratic values. America’s interference in other sovereign nations and illegal unilateral sanctions reveals the elites’ control of government. The corporate powers do not answer to government controls, and they require endless wars to maintain and grow their wealth. All of their efforts are centered behind the greatest facade in U.S. history, “The War on Terror.”
The U.S. resembles more a ‘managed democracy’ in a system of “inverted totalitarianism,” according to Sheldon Wolin’s ‘Democracy Incorporated.’ Its citizens are not sovereign citizens but a submissive population. This truth became evident in the recent uprising of Trump’s right-wing supporters. The presidential election with all its disparities spotlights the frailty of the people’s power even at a local level.
Democracy is a struggling precept in America. What we see on the surface, as a democratic republic, is only for public consumption. It no longer holds together the structure of American ideals and governance. As the Soviet Union crumbled, so will America’s pseudo democratic system, disrupting civil society at its roots. This begs the question; Is the only solution to the crisis another civil war? The civil uprising in the U.S. is but a glimpse of what is to come in America. Although propagated by a treasonous insurrection incited by Trump to maintain power, the attempted coup is a true reflection of the corporate machination behind U.S. power. Trump is at the center of the corporate machine in America.
Trump’s criminal and subversive actions are creating ripples of disintegration in America and in the Trump administration. The devastating effects upon Trump’s presidency is inevitable. America’s fascist regime has been revealed to the world and to its population. Most Americans call for criminal and treasonous charges against Trump and his cohorts in Washington. The internal structure of American so-called democracy is crumbling, exposing its corrupt elements to the world.
There is absolutely no confidence that the in-coming Biden administration will hold the conspirators to account and defend democracy. Americans must wake up to the lessons of January 6, specifically that the disintegration of American democracy is rooted in the crisis of capitalism and corruption.
